I began my own business in response to the numbers of people asking for my advice. I studied and qualified formally both in design and horticulture, but most of my experience and knowledge has come from designing with plants and making gardens.
“Caroline is an intelligent plants woman who manages to develop her borders like a composer writes music – she balances the structure, colour, timing and textures with great skill" - Liz Nicholson, Landscape Director, Nicholsons Nurseries
From building site
A front garden welcomes. As a first sight, it creates an impression. This house had been completely remodelled over a period of nine months. Once the builders had moved off-site we could see what remained, and how important the front garden should be. Most of the garden is at the back, offering greater development opportunities.
to border
Euonymous Emerald Gaiety has been planted to form a low evergreen hedge. This border is north facing, with shade from mature oak trees quite close by. Spring bulbs are threaded through the plantings of Tellima grandiflora, Erysimum Bowles Mauve and grasses, amongst a few carefully chosen shrubs. The garden is sandy acid soil, which retains water in some areas.
